 Steamboat Lake State Park campground is one of the nicest state parks in Colorado. Nestled in the valley below Hahns Peak, Steamboat Lake State Park sprawls across a wide area open area with small rolling hills and light tree cover. There are several different places to camp around Steamboat Lake State Park. These range from walk-in tent only campsites on a large island on the northern side of the lake to the more sheltered RV and camper campsites up on the hills surrounding Steamboat Lake. Chambers Lake Campground is a great place to go high mountain camping. It is located in Roosevelt National Forest and is listed as one of their campgrounds. Chambers Lake Campground in about an hour and a half west of Fort Collins on State Highway 14. Chambers Lake is at about 9,200 feet in elevation. There are many well groomed campsites here and they are more private than most due to the thick woods. However, with the pine beetle epidemic, much of these trees may have been removed.

 Bellaire Campground is a nicely spread out campground in the forested and hilly area north west of Bellaire Lake itself. Bellaire Lake Campground is about an hour and a half outside of Fort Collins near Red Feathers Lakes village off of County Road 69. Bellaire Lake is a very popular destination with its reputation for good weather, decent fishing and being handicap accessible. During peak season you are bound to find this a busy place. Just outside of Loveland on US-34, nestled within the foothills, Carter Lake is surrounded by about 1000 acres of public land to enjoy and explore in Larimer county.
