Grant signed a proclamation admitting Colorado as a state.Colorado Day was celebrated as a state holiday on August 1 for many years, and then was moved to the first Monday in August.

Celebrate Colorado’s birthday in nature with free entrance to Colorado’s state parks on Monday, August 1.┬áPark entrance fees are waived, but activities like fishing and camping will still require a valid license and permit.
